Tires that are often OEM-mounted on domestic trail bikes are all capable of performing almighty performance both on and off the bike. D605 has the best on/off balance and durability and is a safe choice, while TW301/302 are a bit more on-road oriented and have more frontal straight-line stability on gravelly forest roads. The result is that the number of the "A" series is somewhat lower than the number of the "B" series. The GP21/22 are designed to be fun to drive off-road, especially on course-like dirt surfaces (dry condition).
Specifically, the GP21 on the front is less slippery when cornering on dirt surfaces, while the GP22 on the rear slides quickly. Even though the rear end is slippery, it is also controllable, allowing the driver to enjoy dirt sports driving with peace of mind. The fact that two or three current Japanese TRAIL models are OEM-specified for this tire may be a message from the manufacturer that they want their users to enjoy off-road driving. I have the impression that it has good grip and stability on gravel surfaces, making it safe for touring on forest roads.
On the other hand, on the road, the front end of the car is a little unstable, shaking sideways when driving straight ahead, but this is not a problem if it is not a concern, and there is no problem when driving on highways.
The most significant minus point is that the GP22 in the Rear is losing power very quickly. The attached image shows the condition after about 5,000 km of driving. The Front can still go, but the Rear is no longer usable for off-road use.
Overall, I think this Tire is ideal for people like myself who do not want to sacrifice on-road performance, but want a little Plus Dirt performance on top of that.
